One of the community’s most worthwhile services is in desperate need of new volunteers. Community Responders is a scheme managed by South Central Ambulance Service (Hampshire Division) to enable skilled and equipped people to respond to medical emergencies in their local area.

Attending An Emergency
Community Responders are volunteers who give their time freely to help save lives in their community. They are trained by South Central Ambulance Service (Hampshire Division) in basic life support, the use of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s) and the treatment and control of a wide range of potentially life threatening conditions.

They are dispatched by the Ambulance Emergency Operations Centre to emergency incidents in their community. They operate within small areas and so can often be at the patient’s side in less than five minutes, providing both vital medical care and reassurance. In many cases, their intervention can literally mean the difference between life and death.
